You got here, 'shook the dust of Pathos from your feet' an all that. What you wanna do? Someone else needs to become an admin, that's a cert. It isn't just I haven't a fuckin clue what I'm doing but my connection (as well as the rest of my circumstances) are liable to sudden dramatic change an that's how ZSDW got locked out of it's own provider in the first place.
You can use the place as a staging post if you discover somewhere you think better or settle down and make what passes for roots on the bleeding internet, whatever you want.
I haven't checked out all the 'facilities' here but, from how other 21st bloody century forums work (unlike Arpanet era wetpaint/wikifoundry) this site posts pictures and video. tener cuidado! big images and autoplay video slaughter bandwidth and slow down page loading something rotten so you might not want to go nuts with that. You tube isn't so bad but some video host services inject autoplay scripts into reposts so as their adverts will play. Meh you'll work it out. Anyway Post what it is you want to do and I''l help if I can.

Really people, we need some input on this. What are we going to do with this place. A simple preppers forum? A simple preppers forum focused on one kind of Event or another? Do you want to replicate ZPW or be an alternative to it? Do we want to be a discrete clubhouse or assume a public education type role?
It seems as though people have some ideas about what they want to happen here but those ideas need sharing.. If they are going to happen, no?

I think we should cover all types of events, why not throw an Alien invasion in from time to time besides the standard flood or hurricane. I think we should let the folks figure out if they want to come here and BS or actually learn things. I don't have a problem sharing knowledge if somebody asks. I just don't want it to turned into the Anti 2nd Amendment forum, run by people who think long term survival is going to be dependent on your ability to farm a piece of land, or build shelters out of tree bark..... Some of the best survivalist in history were the Mountain Men who roamed the Rockies....and most of them could only do so for a few years, before they had to return to a more realistic life style or die.

I see what your getting at but for the people who think in terms of a 'Limited' short term Event where order will eventually be restored isn't the making shelters out of tree bark, living on bugs etc. a viable strategy. As you say even if you are young and fit, it will knock the shit out of your constitution in no time But! if you are of the opinion that a crisis 'will' be short term and further if you are in a part of the world where firearms are uncommon.. Then your options are looking slim, no? And if anyone turns up, basically looking for a fight over the 2nd Amendment, just ignore them man (stood her chuckling to myself) It's the supreme form of demonstrating contempt! I'm not even acknowledging your presence...
(still chuckling to myself here)

If you managed to survive a plane crash in the Alaska wilderness, then yes Bushcraft skills are an important must. However I can't even take a weekend trip without packing up half the house, so the odds of most dedicated preppers being forced back into the stone age are very slim. A short term WORL law scenario is going to involve me personally bugging in and hunkering down, protecting the family. I would not worry about a trap line or picking out the wild edibles to make a salad until most of the human population has taken a nose dive.

Yea I take your point. I think we were taught a lot of stuff like that in the boy scouts, not because anyone believed we'd need to to do it but because it was character and confidence building and for small boys, a shedload of fun! And while I'm no 'mountain man' nor even a 'foodie' I happen to like dandelion salad an the nettle tea on a night Definitely! helps my hay fever. Marked improvement. Would you swap a free palliative medication for some expensive and dodgy big pharma option?

At some point if civilization was going to take quite a while to bounce back one would need to use the natural resources available to them. As far as the drugs go, I really don't use them myself. I just deal with things, as far as the kids go big pharma wins!!! I think my wife would murder me if I tried the natural way. Per event mind sets are hard to change, and I don't care to have my hobbies end up on her shit list. She is content to let me do my thing, and I content to make the preps I think we will need with impunity!!

...Would you swap a free palliative medication for some expensive and dodgy big pharma option? Call me a big sissy bitch I guess but I am not one to go without sinus meds, Tylenol etc and my prescription Topirimate BUT I unfortunately suffer from chronic sinusitis and sleep apnea, hopefully markedly improved by my recent UPPP surgery and sinus surgery...my wife says the snoring is already better, I suppose that is a good sign, hopefully dependency on the meds will go away or be drastically reduced.

Was does anyone think of the 'Dump' idea as ZPW did it. Dump is unnecessarily pejorative but an 'Assembly-Area' to pre-publish anything we want to put up. Where it can be checked for typos or other problems.
I was VERY glad of it when I got completely bogged down in the Escape By Water articles . . . that i'm still trying to bleeding finish... Talk about biting off more than you can comfortably chew or what.
Anyway I recommend it as a practical help.

What about dividing this place up into two sections? Tactical and Practical? The tactical section can have the threads about firearms, knives, tactics, armor etc etc. The practical one can be devoted to things like food preps, clothing, etc etc.
