So how do the locals feel about you MD? I assume your going to work on more food/water/power generation preps? So far, so good. I think that by being a new CCDW instructor for KY, I will soon gain many friends. I am on good to great terms w/my immediate neighbors and they are natives. Also, my research is correct that I do have a large market in the local area.
I'm surrounded by farms and farm folk so in my estimation I need to be on the best of terms with those that already know/raise beef cattle, horses (this IS KY and full of horsies) and all crops. I do fully intend to figure out how to go past a standard garden plus I have looked into (had estimates) on a geothermal system for heat/AC and a full generator. I don't have the funds to do what I want/need yet.
I put in a propane stove to run off the main tank so that I can cook indoors as long as the supply lasts. I do have a portable grill plus a few spare tanks as well.
I have a crappy pond that would need work (to the tune of thousands, maybe) to make it 'work' as a stocked fishing pond. I'm on 'city' water but there are some wells around.
In the event that I come into the correct amount of money, plans will accelerate. I do have some fortification/hardening to include but not as critical as DPR-Md.

So how long until you can get your home up to snuff with rhe current funds MD? How much of a pain is it to get a concealed carry permit out there?

With current funding and prioritization, >1 yr unless I can find bargains. This includes yard improvements (concrete areas, road repair), vehicle shelter, pool improvement, gates, secure steel doors, geothermal upgrade and generator.
This could be like >$50K. Hard choices to make.
CCDW isn't much pain and I plan to keep it easy under my tutelage but not as easy as WY. The biggest part is the wait, not the course, which is super-easy.

I don't prep technically ....too many money demands now. But I plan for civil war, rebellion, economic collapse, ect I have at the minimum 3mths of supplies. Wifes family has enough to last the same or more depending on time of year. We garden, raise hogs, hunt, fish, and preserve year round. Neighbors trade chickens and eggs for pork and beef. Other neighbors trade fresh milk and butter for pork and game (they don't hunt anymore) Then we have a few Amish close by for other needs.

How many porkers do you guys have now? Sounds like my in laws in NC, only their means to defend themselves are lacking. I need to one day buy an AR or Mini-14 to leave out there. I did that with the Glock 19, so if needed they have something else besides their P95 to use.
