So do you prefer to buy a lot of good items or do you prefer to buy a few awesome items when you prep? The idea came from the battle rifle thread, where Blackhorse told me about the price for an SKS. I could have purchased about three of those rifles and a few hundred rounds to go with them, vs trying to create a tack driving AR. Now hands down the AR will outshoot the SKS past the 150 meter mark, but having three rifles to one does give you more options. You can arm other people, you can create multiple caches of weapons and equipment and store them where needed. So what would you rather do with your resources? Go for lots of good enough, or a few awesome items? It reminds me of the old NATO vs Soviet debate about equipment etc. The Ivans had a lot of men and material to throw against the outnumbered NATO defenders, and they believed that Quantity was a quality on it's on.

I have not believed in quantity over quality in regards to anything since high school and in those days it was beer, there were two kinds warm or cold, nowadays I can't drink the swill, I prefer well made beers but I enjoy 'middle' shelf beers too, especially Bud Light Lime on a hot day.
That being said, there is something to be said about being able to arm many people in a dire situation, it certainly ups your odds for survival in a combat situation.
For me however, I have had several years to build my firearms collection, I own what I would consider several quality firearms and I would bet my life that any one of them would do the job in any given scenario, I would say I am fortunate in that I have been able to get somewhat the best of both worlds, to an extent anyways.
