Ordered my ACOG today! Got the desert tan 4x32 with the red horse shoe reticle! Will have to post pics next week! Wanted one of these for a long time. Anybody else have any milestones they care to share?

I'm still saving up for a Japanese 'Yumi' bow. not even the same class as your firearms but it's the next purely weapon I'll buy, as opposed to all the incidentally lethal tools and implements that whisper to me whenever I go into the hardware store...
The archery is... good for my head... calming.

Would that be the big sucker they shoot when on horse back? How much would one of those set you back?

That's the bunny, it's asymmetrical though so looks bigger than it handles. 5 or 600 for a quality one, but I have other reasons for wanting a cheaper 350 or so, fibreglass model. The climate here is harsh on things like bows, musical instruments and the like, Very damp winters become very dry summers. that 'racks' wood, fine wood anyway.

We had a foot of snow two weeks ago. So I understand the climate issues. So how far out can those suckers reach? What about firearms ownership in Spain? How restricted is it out your way?

Things are.. informal/relaxed all the way out here. My gun licence was filled in for me by our local Guarda Civil Sargent who, when he couldn't find the forms, took someone else's from the file, photocopied it tipexed the name and address out, copied it again and put mine in. It helps that he has land ajoining mine and I help him in his orchards, it's.. local here... He calls this 'bandit country' You should see the state of some of the vehicles! But no it's just Don't take the piss an you'll be all right. As far as the bow goes, I've never used one but they have a technique of their own which can be used as a form of meditation. Which I'm discovering with an ordinary bow - Or maybe as I'm getting older perhaps I'm just nodding off between shots Turning in now. It's the wee small hours here, 'ta Manyana

So what types of firearms are you allowed to have in Spain? They seem more relaxed then quite a few other European countries.
So what is growing in the orchards btw? We don't have a great to many out here for some strange reason.

Pragmatic is the word your looking for, southern Europeans don't go so much for following the rules if there's no good reason unlike northern European countries. And Spain has a federal structure with a lot of provincial and local autonomy so while the Guarda Civil is a national police force it tends to reflect the values of the district, and province more than the policies of central government. At least in 'practical matters' which in rural districts include firearms licencing. As I said elsewhere you'll be all right if you don't take the piss. Live out in the country as I do, own (or look after others) livestock and want a cheap shotgun, of course you do, paperwork a formality. You want to register Pancor Jackhammer, An Barrett 98b and a couple of Glocks... Okaaay, first you will have to register for three separate weapons handling and safety courses, one for each class of firearm... See what I mean, they come over all relaxed here but they are not stupid... Don't - Take - The - -Piss!!! I saw a story a couple of years ago where the Guarda Civil grabbed some "terrorist armoury" (according to the newspaper) Bollox was it an armoury, it was some enthusiasts collection! An a bloody impressive collection it was but I doubt very much terrorist would stockpile Tower muskets and old breach load short carbines which were easily identifiable in the photos. Naaa someone pissed off his local police chief was what that was. Fruit? we have cherry. peach that sort of thing. Hard fruits like apples and pears more kinds of nuts than Arkham Asylum but not citrus, orange and lemon don't do well this far north. And vines, lots and lots and lots of vines.
